Andrea Lee

Andrea Lee (* 1953) is an American author of novels and memoirs. Her stories are often international in setting and deal with questions of racial and national identity, as well as collisions between cultures.[1] Lee grew up in Philadelphia. She is an expatriate who currently lives in Torino, Italy with her husband and two children.

Lee received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Harvard University. She lived in Russia for a year in 1978 with her former husband, which formed the basis for Russian Journal.

She is a contract writer for The New Yorker, and has been published in The New York Times Magazine, The New York Times Book Review, Vogue, Time, The Oxford American, and the textbook Elements of Literature.
